My relationship with the camera started when I was a child, but the aperture
truly opened when I was documenting field research in remote northwest Alaska
in the late 1990s. In 1999, I found myself living and shooting with shamen and
soothsayers in West Africa, Bhutan, Nepal, the Australian desert and Bolivia as
a Thomas Watson Fellow. After several return trips to the Himalaya and Alaska,
I settled in Washington State's Puget Sound region where I have worked and
played for the past six years. I've taken hundreds of photo trips to the
mountains and the Sound, a solo bike trip to Iceland, and a six-month voyage to
Patagonia on foot and Europe by tandem bicycle. After living and working in
Bolivia for most of 2008, I am back in Seattle taking in the Northwest's wet
winter personality.
